HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Greetings dear readers. As I sit nursing a rather delicate head, memories of last night bring a smile to my face. Good food, good company and good music made for a great new year opener. We booked, many months back, a table at Pier 64 in Penarth Marina. A fairly regular haunt of ours so we knew it would be good. It didn't disappoint ....
Friends dressed in their finest clobber, smiles all around and the evening kicked off perfectly with a champagne cocktail. I love the contemporary feel of this place. It's the perfect size which makes it feel friendly and intimate, even when surrounded by strangers. The service is great and the 9 course menu (yes 9) was both varied and delicious ....
There was not a lot left on the plates. There was live, ear splitting, music and at the strike of 12 hugs and kisses all around ....
Not everyone lasted the distance :-) I know how she feels. As I gazed out of the window into the darkness, fireworks in the distance and the twinkling lights on one of the boats reflecting in the water, I wondered what 2013 would bring. I have a good feeling ....
Happy 2013 dear friends!

Dear Di,
ReplyDeleteLooks to have been a most wonderful time and your shot of the reveler laid out the banquette is priceless, wish not to think about the number of times I have struck such a poise :-o
Wishing you and yours all the most splendid of everything in the coming year, fun, laughs, wild abandon frivolity…
Now for your current delicate condition, I’m all for a Bloody Mary, hmm??? Go on …. – gary
I have always fancied Bloody Mary's Gary, but never tempted enough to try one. For my mind anything with tomato juice as an ingredient, the dish, glass, should be served hot, preferably with a spoon and meat thrown in :)
DeleteI will stick with my gin and tonic one the sun is over the yard arm!
Happy New Year honey.
Glad to have you in my life.

ReplyDeleteHAPPY NEW YEAR, Dianne!
It looks like you had a wonderful and joyful start to 2013, surrounded by friends, family and just simply happy people!
Warmes greetings from the Périgord,
karin
How lovely to see you Karin.
DeleteHope your celebrations were great. Usually our New Year's Eve's are a fairly quiet affair. There were times during the evening, when the music was so loud, that we had decided to keep it quiet. That and the fact that we could have spent the week in the Perigord for the cost of the event may be the deciding factor on what we do next year.
It was fun and a once in a lifetime thing though - great fun!
Happy New Year.
Great to have found you this year.
Much Love

DI DEAR! I am sitting here with a huge smile on my face as I feel as if I was there with you. Last night was so special to me as you came to visit me....you were already done with this lively celebration when you came my way and I can only imagine the FUN YOU HAD! But yes, the head splitting feeling is being felt around the world today!!!! Oh how wonderful this restaurant must be! It reminds me very much of my life in Southern California where we frequented lovely restaurants on the water, and also in Boston Massachusetts as well where seaside dining was a normal but very festive part of our lives.
ReplyDelete2013 my dear Di will open its arms wide for you; you are creative, a go-getter and your taste for the beautiful will continue to soar! LOVE TO YOU DEAR ONE! Anita
Anita,
DeleteIt was great fun and I told you you were on my mind when I got home. I was wondering what you were doing on the other side :-)
I am facing 2013 with open arms and expectations. It had better not let me down!

Hello Di!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a wonderful night out with friends, the menu looks fabulous! I could do without the loud music though.
I hope that 2013 is filled with so many wonderful adventures and blessings for you and your beautiful family.
Take care, xx Elizabeth
Yes, I must admit, the LOUD music was the only down side. However, others seemed to enjoy it so it must be me :-)

What a fun celebration Dianne and the food sounded great! As we're just back in the US from Torquay and going out was not in the cards with unpacking and jetlag! We built our first Winter fire in the hearth, I made lovely soup, and we popped a bottle of good bubbly, managing to stay awake for the stroke of midnight!
ReplyDeleteI'm now packing for my trip to Antarctica - many days at sea ahead!
Happy New Year - may this be a wonderful year for us all.
Hugs - Mary
Hi Mary,
DeleteTravelling is so trying, just sitting in one spot for 8 hours. I always lose the use of my legs when I eventually get going.
I am sure your peaceful NYE was sublime!
Enjoy your next trip. I can't wait to see what you get up to.
Much love.
