What a perfect day it was. Perfect enough for myself and Sookie to take a long walk through our neighbourhood, camera in tow of course. Here is the fruit of our labour. A little view from the street where we live. Turn your speakers on and enjoy!

  2. PS - You are quite good with the camera! Very steady and still. All my videos are so choppy....like I've been drinking, haha

    1. Dearest Loi,
Next time you are in the UK you MUST let me know. Wherever you are I will drive to meet you for tea!
Trust me, most of my filming was too choppy and ended up in the bin. The secret is to slow it down, it makes the image seem more still but you can still see some shake.
      Glad you like :-)

  3. Di my friend, the quality of cinematography is as great as your still photos! And what a treat to see where you live, in MOTION! Thank you for this tour and for breaking that wall of stillness to show us where you live. I must sound like I'm repeating myself and I am, but I wish I could do what you do with the camera, and now, with the video! And the quality of sound too....what do you do?

I have missed you and not seen you around. I hope all is well! Anita

  5. Hello Dianne:

You are to be hugely admired for this video which is so very professional in every respect. We are greatly impressed and somewhat in awe.

How wonderful to see something of the area in which you live, and particularly to have a real sense of what your 'street' is actually like. We were intrigued by the shot of all the water pouring in from a great height and wondered where it comes from. So lovely that you have had some sunshine. Here it continues to be cold, grey and wet.

    1. Hello Jane & Lance,
How wonderful of you to share my sunny day. I must say I do love our street, always busy, always something happening. The barrage is an engineering wonder. There are two rivers flowing into the bay and very often, especially at low tide as it was when I filmed, the level of water in the bay is much higher than the Bristol Channel, therefore they have to drain the water out of the lock before boats can enter. Once the boats are in and the lock closed, they open up the other side to bring the water in the lock to the same level as the bay and then let you out. It churns up all the clay on the bottom and so we never see blue waters, always murky and interesting.

      Hope I explained it ok.
      Much love.

  6. How beautiful that was! I was struck by how much it looks like the shore here, though we don't have the big locks - but a working harbour bears resemblance to all working harbours, doesn't it?

    1. Cardiff is twinned with Baltimore and was used as inspiration when the Council decided to use the bay as a public area. Up until that time it was a working dock sadly in decline. Now it's not so much a working harbour as a recreational harbour, it's wonderful. What is the name of your shore?

  8. Dianne, I loved this delightful video.
In spite of having easy access to Cardiff from Shropshire by train I still haven’t visited the city. You have given me the incentive to change that sorry state of affairs.
